SEMBLANCE

Don Lorenzo M. Vargas Alfaro, the giant of aerospace science. He traveled the planet in search of new ideas, technologies, paradigms and proposals to make Peru a great nation.

Thanks to his tenacious initiative to promote aerospace science he deservedly received the title of Fellow of the Aerospace Medical Association (AsMA) in Washington D.C. USES.

Dr. Vargas developed his vast professional activity in the field of Aerospace Medicine and Environmental Medicine and in the training, promotion and research of science with NASA. His member code was SP/MAG/NUM 12628.

He was the founder of the Aerospace program in Peru in the 20th century after graduating with honors from the Naval Aerospace Academy in Pensacola Florida in 1972.

As Aerospace scientific director in the Peruvian Navy, installed at the Naval Air Base of Callao P.C. he presided over the founding in 1997 of the aerospace educational scientific organization ORANIA Soc. Inc. Non-profit.

Dr. Vargas was a founding member of CONIDA (National Commission for Aerospace Research and Development) in Peru in 1974.

Since the middle of the 20th century, he has been a permanent member of the Annual Congresses of the
AsMA Program, where he has participated with various presentations and proposals.

As an international academic integrated in Europe, he created the promotion of scientific transfer in programs related to the permanent integral presence of life with Biomedicine and emerging aerospace sciences using humanized flights developed since 1962 by the Shuttles and the NASA International Space Station.

Dr. Lorenzo Vargas as commander of the Peruvian Navy was recognized during his lifetime as the most outstanding researcher and pioneer in the Andean environment of America. His work has been validated by International Aerospace Societies, standing out among authorized scientists as Director of Naval Aviation.

He carried out research in Altitude Medicine, survival and rescue programs (SAR); he participated in the Commission that established the Peruvian Army Aviation since 1975 (GALE); he was decorated with the First ALA of the Army; Distinction for Military Merit.

Dr. Vargas was a founding member of the United States Navy Society of Flight Surgeons since its inception in 1976.

Regarding his aeronautical experience, he had a total of 950 naval flight hours as a physiology instructor.

In the Aerospace Medical Society (AsMA) he stood out giving several international conferences as well as within universities, Integral teaching centers in the Andean area of ​​Peru since 1990.

During his Naval activity in 1985, in Trauma and War Surgery, he installed the HBO Oxygen therapy system in the Hyperbaric Pressure Chamber at the Callao Naval Base for the treatment of burns and bone problems such as gangrene and degradation in the Armed Forces due to presence of subversive attacks that the country suffered for several decades.

Dr. Vargas belonged to various United Nations Institutions, such as Centers for Higher Studies in Europe and Asia, receiving support for his permanent work in academic studies since his graduation as a Medical Surgeon at the National University of San Marcos in Lima, Peru. since 1956.

He was one of the managers who was able to achieve in 1993 the creation of the Aerospace Science and Technology Day in honor of the wise Ing. Pedro Paulet. He was a participant and manager from 2005 to 2015 of the ceremony in honor of Paulet in the Domodossola park in Miraflores.

He was a Peruvian of the highest universal value.
